First leaked in June 2017, the anime adaptation of the world-winning manga PLUTO finally made production official almost seven years later, with the release of a promotional video and the announcement of its release. release date on Netflix!
Adapted from the eponymous manga series by Naoki Urasawa , Takashi Nagasaki and Osamu Tezuka , the project had remained silent for several long years, in particular due to the difficulty of transposing its script for the small screen.
Originally, the PLUTO manga was released in September 2003, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Osamu Tezuka’s Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy) manga. His story is rightly centered on one of Astro Boy’s story arcs, the adventure called “The Greatest Robot on Earth”.
After a long wait, fans of the work will finally be able to discover PLUTO in its anime format, with a release date scheduled for no later than this year! Without further ado, we invite you to discover all our information about the project.
When is the PLUTO anime release date on Netflix?
The release date of the PLUTO anime , produced by the M2 animation studio, is scheduled for the current of the year 2023, all over the world on the Netflix streaming platform .
For the moment, we do not yet know how many episodes will compose the series.
The project is overseen by Macoto Tezka ( Black Jack ) at M2 Animation Studio ( Onihei ). Takashi Nagasaki ( Monster ) serves as producer, and Japanese company GENCO handles production.
As for the artistic distribution, we find the following main actors:
- Hikasa Yoko (Rias Gremory – HighSchool DxD ), as Atom
- Fuji Shinshu (Zenjuro Saotome – Beelzebub ), dans le rôle de Gesicht

The PLUTO anime is adapted from the eponymous manga, written and drawn by Naoki Urasawa, co-written by Takashi Nagasaki and based on the original artwork by Osamu Tezuka. The title was pre-published from September 2003 to April 2009 in Japanese publisher Shogakukan’s Big Comic Original magazine. In France, the manga has been published by Kana since February 2010.
Synopsis de l’anime PLUTO
In a futuristic world, robots are considered equal to humans, especially due to their impact during the 39th Asian War. Indeed, during the confrontation, eight of them carried out feats of arms which earned them to become real celebrities, adored by the entire population.
But while their popularity continues to grow, the Swiss robot Montblanc , particularly appreciated because of its warm personality, is cruelly murdered in mysterious circumstances. Worse still, other robots and researchers are found dead day after day! On the scene of the various crimes, only one clue comes up each time: a kind of ornament in the shape of a horn.
In order to shed light on these tragic events, the robot Gesicht , Europol detective and veteran of the war, is responsible for leading the investigation. During his research, he will discover that a large-scale plot, led by a mysterious entity called “Pluto“, seeks to get rid of the seven remaining robots.
Hurry up. To prevent a new drama from happening, Gesicht meets people and robots who are threatened to try to defend them, at the risk of his own life.
